NOW YOU CAN SLEEP

It was our last night together. I couldn't sleep. I drank too much coffee, ate too much shredded wheat. You should have had decaf. It's not the same. It's late. It's not that late. Come here. Now you can sleep.

I couldn't sleep. I didn't fight it. I didn't have to be awake the next day for anything. We had to check out by 11am. I knew where some food was. I had some sweet Hawaiian dinner rolls and a banana in a bag.

I filled a cup with water.

I couldn't find the CD I got at the mall.

Now you can sleep.

I asked her if she wanted me to turn on the TV so she didn't have to hear me fidgeting around.

Nah, she said. It's ok.

I picked up the remote and pressed power anyway. I knew that TV helped her sleep. I was going to be awake for some time.

I couldn't find the CD I got at the mall.

Now you can sleep.

I found the CD. It was buried in my backpack. Under some shirts.
